1Unter dem Archon Euphiletos; die Erechtheïs hatte die vierte
2Prytanie inne, für die Ariston S.d. Theodoros aus dem Demos RhamnousXII Sekretär
3war; im Boëdromion am alten und neuen, dem dreizehnten (Tag) der
4Prytanie; Haupt-Volksversammlung in dem Theater; von den
5Vorsitzenden leitete die Abstimmung Chariteles S.d. Pamphilos aus dem Demos Aphidna und
6seine Mitvorsitzenden. Beschluss von Rat und Volk; Phano-
7machos S.d - - - aus dem Demos Phyla stellte den Antrag: Da die Epheben unter dem Archon
8Diokles stets in guter Ordnung zu den Gymnasien kamen;
9sich gehorsam verhielten gegenüber dem Kosmeten und
10den ihnen vorgesetzten Lehrern; bei der Weihehandlung
11der Mysterien gut und fromm ihren Dienst verrichtet haben, wie es ihnen
12gehießen haben der (Archon) Basileus und die Mitglieder der Kommission für
13die Mysterien; sie auch die Prozessionen durchgeführt haben und die Fackelzüge
14mitgelaufen sind bei den anderen Festspielen in guter Formation und guter
15Ordnung; sie auch die Opfer den Götter geopfert und glücklich vollzogen
16haben gemäß den Gesetzen und den Beschlüssen - - -
17- - - und das geziemende Opfer auf Salamis bei den Aias-
18Spielen, und für Demokrateia die Prozession durchgeführt haben und
19den Fackelzug mitgelaufen sind für die eponyme Gottheit der Insel; sie auch
20in das Umland ausgerückt sind, wie es ihnen die Gesetze vorschrieben, - - -
21- - - gemeinsam übernachtet haben - - - auch den
22Volksversammlungen beigesessen haben, wie es ihnen vorgeschrieben war; sie auch die
23Parade vor dem Rat und die (Parade) in Waffen durchgeführt haben; –
24Damit nun das Volk in öffentlicher Weise diejenigen ehrt, die sich nützlich
25und gerecht erweisen, zu Glück und Heil!, wolle beschließen der Rat: dass die
26erlosten Vorsitzenden für die kommende Volksversammlung hierüber
27verhandeln lassen und die Beschlussvorlage des Rates in die Volksversammlung einbringen,
28wonach der Rat es für gut befindet, dass man belobige die Epheben unter dem
29Archon Diokles und sie bekränze mit goldenem Kranz
30wegen ihrer Frömmigkeit gegenüber den Göttern und ihrer Disziplin und ihres Ehrgeizes
31für den Rat und das Volk; dass man ihnen gewähre
32die Weihung einer Bildtafel an einem Ort ihrer Wahl; dass man belobige
33auch den Knabentrainer Heortios S.d. Hermodoros aus dem Demos Acharnai, und den
34Katapultausbilder - - -, und den
35Waffenausbilder - - -

2for which Ariston son of Theodoros of Rhamnous was secretary.
3On the old and new day of Boedromion, the thirteenth of the
4prytany. Principal Assembly in the theatre. Of the
5presiding committee Chariteles son of Pamphilos of Aphidna was putting to the vote, and
6his fellow presiding committee members. The Council and the People decided.
7Phanomachos son of - of Phyle proposed: since the ephebes of the
8archonship of Diokles (214/3) have continued to be well-disciplined in the gymnasia,
9and have demonstrated obedience to their commanding officer and
10to those appointed as their trainers, and in the rite
11of the Mysteries did good and pious service, as
12they were instructed by the king and the managers of the Mysteries,
13and participated in the processions, and ran the torch races
14in the other competitions in an orderly and disciplined manner,
15and made the sacrifices to the gods and obtained favourable omens
16pursuant to the laws and decrees - - -
17- - - and at the time of the sacrifice on Salamis [at the festival of Ajax]
18they both participated in the procession for Democracy and
19ran the torch race for the eponymous of the island, and they went out
20into the country as the laws required of them - - -
21- - - reported that they kept watch - - -
22and were on guard at the Assemblies, as they were instructed, and
23carried out the demonstration, both the one in the Council and the one at arms;
24so that the People may be seen to honour those who show themselves
25to be of good service and competent, for good fortune, the Council shall decide, that the
26presiding committee allotted for the forthcoming Assembly shall place this matter
27on the agenda, and submit the opinion of the Council to the People,
28that it seems good to the Council to praise the ephebes of the
29archonship of Diokles (214/3), and crown them with a gold crown
30for their piety towards the gods and their discipline and
31love of honour towards the Council and the People; and they shall be granted permission
32to set up a painting in whatever place they may choose; and also to praise
33their physical trainer, Heortios son of Hermodoros of Acharnai, and their
